arlington road
a good thriller with an unexpected and shocking ending. this film deals with a father, played by jeff bridges, who lost his wife a year before. his son has been struggling with making friends and being social until a new neighbor boy moves in. the neighbor's father, played by tim robbins, seems nice enough, but as bridges gets to know him he starts to uncover a suspicious past. this film seems a bit ahead of its time, as it deals with terrorism and attacks on american soil. bridges does a wonderful job of portraying a man suffering from the loss of a wife, trying to be a good father, and coping with life. it seems like he starts to unravel and makes unfounded claims about this new neighbor in his and his boy's life, but those claims start to look a bit more accurate then anyone else things. no one believes him, and he starts to spiral into paranoia. this seemingly mundane drama slowly crafts itself into a very taut thriller.
