everything is illuminated

a very interesting and vividly colored journey of a young man trying to figure out a mystery involving his diseased grandfather.  the story is very strange in its surreal twists and turns, introducing some very colorful characters.  the best of which is alex, an interpreter who goes along on the wild journey.  elijah wood does an amazing job in this, liev schreiber's directorial debut.  its funny, strange, and very moving.
