the lovely bones

a very heavy movie about a man who lures children into his bunker and kills them.  sounds like a standard crime/suspense movie, but the difference here is that we are looking at the whole thing from the child's perspective, even after she dies.  not all of it works, but some of the afterlife imagery is interesting and the acting by saoirse ronan as the murdered girl and stanley tucci as the killer is very good.  not a great film, but an interesting take on the material.
