the loss of a teardrop diamond

based on the play by tennessee williams, this film follows a spoiled rich girl as she upends the social society of her southern plantation community.  she hires a handsome farm hand to be her escort to different events and continues to be a selfish brat at every turn.  we begin to see her fall in love with the farm hand, but at no point do we actually get on her side in any of this.  the film tries to make us care about her and her situation, but she has been absolutely unbearable up until that point that we are not able to make that turn of heart with her.  she is a terrible person, and no matter what happens in the movie, she continues to be a terrible person.  the fact that things go badly for her is something to see as her just reward, not as a sad situation.  the film is fine, but i could not get past how terrible of a character it is centered on.
