neverending story 2

i remember seeing this one when it first came out and thinking it was pretty crazy.  i had never seen the first one when i watched this one, so a lot of the call backs and characters were unfamiliar to me.  i recently revisited it and was not very impressed.  now that i've seen the original, this one is entirely unnecessary.  it is basically a remake in that it hits all the exact same notes and doesn't really try to do anything different or interesting with them.  i like the human cast quite a bit, i had watched jonathan brandis in seaquest and liked him, and his dad was played by john wesley shipp, tv's flash!  and i must admit, 11 year old me had a huge crush on the empress!
